Lady Warriors rout Wildcats and Tigers

The high-scoring bonanza for the Lady Warriors soccer team continued this past week with a 5-2 win over Taft and a 4-0 victory over Wasco.

Tehachapi (19-5-1; 7-1-1 SSL) had two goals from Tiffany Short and goals from Sarah Dorador, Melanie Roussel and Eliana Navarro in the win over Taft.

Short also had two assists, while Roussel and Kimmy Worland were credited with assists. At goalie, Sarah Forbes had five saves in the victory.

Last Friday against Wasco, Ashley Villegas, Estefana Flores and Short helped Tehachapi to a 3-0 halftime lead, while Roussel scored a second half goal for the 4-0 decisive win.

Eliana Navarro, Worland, Short and Roussel all had assists, while Forbes had eight saves in the shutout.

The Lady Warriors will close their regular season with a pair of home games against Arvin and Shafter this Tuesday and Friday before starting the CIF Division III playoffs next week.

Junior Varsity

The Lady Braves split their week with a 2-0 win over Taft and a 4-0 loss to SSL leading Wasco.

Vanessa Neang was credited with the two goals against Taft, while Briana Ortiz played both games at goalie.

Ortiz had a valiant effort in the Wasco match, playing through the pain of a sprained finger, while Kassandra Tovar and Daisy Tovar were credited with strong performances.

Tehachapi (8-8-3; 5-2-1 SSL) will look to finish their season with a winning record this week in a pair of home games against Arvin and Shafter.

    The news that the Pahnamid Wind Energy project has been withdrawn from the County Planning Office is good news to most of us up here on the mountain. After spending several million dollars between the City of Tehachapi’s General Plan, the County’s Specific Plan, and the Kern Council of Government’s “Blueprint,” it would be foolish to start making zoning changes at the first opportunity.
