After opening the tournament with a 52-31 loss to Liberty, Braves basketball bounced back to defeat Shafter (32-30) and Wasco (43-20) for third place honors in the Shafter Jayvee Tournament last week.
Jesus Sanchez scored a fast break layup off an assist from Andy Smith to secure the overtime win over Shafter. Sanchez finished as the leading scorer in that game with nine points, followed by Ryan Kelly, Jon Danielson and Daniel Viselli with six points each.
Danielson had a team-high 13 points, including two three-pointers, in the win over Wasco. Daniel Wight also had nine points, Kris Breedlove seven points and Bryan Cotta four points to highlight other strong efforts.
Against Liberty, Wight was the leading scorer with 12 points, followed by Viselli with six points and Jacob Gonzales and Smith with three points each.
The Braves will have a home game against Frontier next Tuesday, Jan. 14 starting at 5:15 p.m.
