Fall All-League Warriors to be announced soon

After finishing their first season in the Southeast Yosemite League, a handful of standout THS athletes were selected to the All-SEYL team for football, volleyball, cross country, golf and tennis.
Over the next four weeks, The Tehachapi News will recognize the athletes that made the all-league team from each respective sport, starting with volleyball next week.
Warrior Cagers notch win at Lloyd Williams Shootout

The Warriors recorded a pair of wins earlier this month with a victory in the Rosamond Tournament over Desert Christian, 73-38, and a most recently in the Lloyd Williams – North Bakersfield Tournament over Golden Valley, 50-44.

Dalton Scaggs helped Tehachapi (2-7) pull away in the third quarter over Golden Valley with nine points in the period, finishing with 4-4 shooting at the free throw line. Caleab Roney was the high point scorer in the game with 12, followed by Isaiah Johnson with 10 points.
Jonny Saavedra led the win over Desert Christian with 13 points, followed by Chris Llamas with 12 points, Andrew Borst with 11 points, and Ryan Flick with 10 points. Steven Cross and Anthony Curiel also chipped in with seven points apiece.
Braves Basketball falls in overtime to Burroughs

In the boys basketball underclassmen ranks, the Braves lost an overtime thriller this past week by a 77-72 score over Burroughs.
The Tehachapi Jayvee came back from a 33-19 halftime deficit and led by as many as three points in the second period before Burros escaped with the win in the extra frame.

Nick Madden had 24 points and six assists, while Phil Baquerizo had 15 points and six rebounds. Other leaders included Thomas Blewett with nine points, and Ryan Hanzel and Mikey Phillips with seven points each.

In earlier contests, the Braves (1-4) also participated in the Liberty Tournament, defeating North 27-20 and losing games to Frontier 32-15 and East 36-34.

In the freshmen ranks, the Indians lost 39-27 to Stockdale and defeated Taft 36-35 and Shafter 50-34 in the East Tournament. Most recently, Tehachapi (2-2) lost a 41-27 decision to Burroughs in Ridgecrest this past Tuesday.

Jacob Burt had 10 points and five rebounds in the loss against the Burros, while Gilbert Gutierrez and Bryan Cotta each had four points. Sage Voda, Daniel Wight and Parker Terele combined for seven points.

Boys Soccer – Varsity at Garces Holiday Tournament (Silver A Division) on Friday and Saturday, Dec. 14-15, vs. Tranquillity (Dec. 14 at 6:15 p.m.) on SFSV Field 2.

Girls Soccer – Varsity at Garces Holiday Tournament (Gold A Division) on Friday and Saturday, Dec. 14-15, vs. Sutter (Dec. 14 at 6:15 p.m.) on SFSV Field 1.

Wrestling – Jayvee at Angel Calderon Tournament on Saturday, Dec. 15.
