Mountain Wrestling competed last weekend in the 18th Annual Don Olson Memorial (The Bash) at West Hills College in Lemoore, finishing in 19th place in a field of 30 teams.
Tehachapi had four wrestlers compete in the tournament, with senior Fletcher Allen (132 pounds) finishing in fourth place and senior Thomas Duran (160 pounds) taking sixth place.
Allen reached the quarterfinals of his bracket with a 9-4 decision win over an opponent from Clovis North, and then reached the semis with a 6-4 decision win over an opponent from Dinuba. Allen closed the tournament with a pin at the 4:49 mark over an opponent from Mission Oak.
Duran recorded a pair of pins to open up the tournament, the first from an opponent from Mt. Whitney and another pin at 3:47 off a Dos Palos wrestler. Duran also had two more wins in the consolation rounds, first off a disqualification from an opponent from Fresno and a pin at 1:26 from an opponent from Hanford.
Also competing was freshmen Arturo Meza in the 113 pound weight class and senior Lance Stone in the 145 pound weight class.
Meza had a win by pin at 1:40 over an opponent from Hanford and a 8-7 decision over an opponent from Nipomo in the consolation rounds. Stone also had a pair of consolation round wins, winning by pin at 3:06 over an opponent from Tulare Western and winning by a 12-4 major decision over an opponent from Dinuba.
Tehachapi will have their first league dual meet of the season next Wednesday, Jan. 8 in the high school gym vs. East-Bakersfield at 5 p.m.
Prior to the start of league, the Warriors will participate in the Doc Buchanan Invitational this Friday and Saturday in Clovis.
