The Warriors opened up the new year last week by taking on pre-season opponents from the Southern Section, finishing up in the seventh place game at the Rosamond Tournament this past weekend.
Tehachapi (0-4) started their year with a 73-50 loss to Paraclete on Monday and lost a trio of games at the Rosamond Tournament over Burroughs (64-55), Paraclete (58-47) and Quartz Hill (68-55).
Isaiah Johnson led the team with 39 points overall in the four games combined, including 17 points and three three-pointers in the defeat against Burroughs.
Dalton Scaggs also had 32 points on the week, registering 15 points, three rebounds and three assists in a near win over Quartz Hill last Friday where Tehachapi had a 35-26 lead at the midway point of the third quarter.
Jonny Saavedra also had a strong week with 36 points overall, with seven baskets coming by way of long distance three point shots.
Against Quartz Hill, Micah Fjeld had eight points and six rebounds, finishing the week with 16 points, while Ryan Flick had nine points and a blocked shot against the Rebels, finishing a strong week with 33 points in four games.
Other leaders included Chris Llamas, Caleab Roney and Dakota Medovitch combining for 45 points in the four games, while Andrew Borst and Andrew Baquerizo had three points each.
The Braves opened up their season last week at Paraclete, losing a narrow 49-41 decision to the Spirits.
Nick Madden led the team in scoring with 15 points, followed by Phil Baquerizo with 12 points and Mikey Phillips with seven points.
Tehachapi also participated in the Liberty Tournament this past weekend, while the Freshmen Indians had games in the East-Bakersfield Invite. Results of those tournaments will be available next week.
