Mountain Soccer inched one step closer to double-digit wins on the season last Monday with an impressive win over a Southern Section soccer power, taking a 2-1 victory over Rosamond.
Rosamond, who finished last year with a 19-4 record and a Division VI Southern Section Playoffs quarterfinal appearance, got behind early against the Warriors thanks in part to a goal and assist by David Veszpeller.
Cameron Gamble struck first for the Warriors at goal off a Veszpeller assist, and Veszpeller scored the second game winning goal off an assist from Alex Benitez.
Rosamond tried to mount a comeback in the second half with a goal of their own, but a stingy defense led by Zach Satton at keeper, who had six saves overall, put the game on ice.
Tehachapi (9-3) also participated in the Garces Holiday Festival this past weekend, and full results of the tournament will be available next week.
The Warriors next match will be in two weeks, when they take on Paraclete at home on Jan. 3 at 6 p.m.
The Braves recorded wins in their final two contests of 2012, taking a 1-0 win over Highland in the Liberty Tournament and a 2-0 victory over Rosamond last Monday afternoon.
In the victory over Highland, Joe Zollar recorded an assist off an own-goal, while Connor O'Neal and Cameron Snyder split time at goalie, recording a combined seven saves in the shutout.
Tehachapi (3-5-2) had goals from Tyler Kroeger and Tyler Huebner in the 2-0 win over Rosamond, with Jose Tirado assisting on both scores.
Snyder recorded a second consecutive shutout at goal, finishing with 10 saves.
