JV Girls Basketball defeats East

The Lady Braves moved their league record to 4-2 in the Southeast Yosemite League with a 46-27 victory over East last Thursday.

Una Abarquez led Tehachapi with 16 points, followed by Fiona Ferry with 14 points and five rebounds and Angie Kroeger with eight points, seven rebounds and nine steals.

Taylor Cummings, Kirsten Medovitch, Rebecca Kirk and Brianna Mendez also each had two points in the contest.

Earlier in the week, the Lady Braves fell to Garces, 45-31. Abarquez was the leading scorer with 10 points, followed by Kroeger and Ferry with nine points apiece. Cummings also had two points and Brooke Langston had a made free throw.

The previous week, Ferry was the leading scorer with eight points in a 33-29 loss to Foothill and Kroeger scored a game-high 18 points in a 46-29 victory over North.
In frosh-soph action last week, the Lady Indians (4-2 SEYL) lost to East, 18-17.

Emily Soto, Jasmine Medovitch and Vanessa Swan all had six rebounds each in the defeat, with Soto finishing as the leader in baskets with nine points. Madi Cornell also had four rebounds, Swan had six steals, and Elana Quintanilla and Yasmin Tirado combined for five steals in the game.
