Boys Soccer upsets Arvin
In their final week in the South Sequoia League, the Warriors achieved a monumental win over Kern County power Arvin, taking a 2-0 victory over the Bears in the final week before the CIF playoffs.
Tehachapi (9-13-4; 2-8 SSL) sparred to a 0-0 deadlock with Arvin for most of the game before scoring two goals in the game's final two minutes to take the big win.
On the first goal, David Veszpeller sent a free kick toward the box on an awaiting header for Jeremy Duff, who put a brilliantly placed cross to Jose Barajas for a goal that went in through the back post.
With the Bears reeling, Cameron Gamble scored on a breakaway two minutes later to ice the victory.
Zach Satton played a masterful game at goalie, recording nine saves overall.
Last Friday, Mountain Soccer suffered a 2-0 loss to Shafter in the league finale, but still qualified for the CIF Division III playoffs starting this week.
