Runners compete at East; Warriors and Braves take down Blades in SEYL meet

The Warriors Cross Country team placed three runners in the top five recently in a dual meet at East Bakersfield High School. Pictured above, from left to right, Ceasar Garcia, Cameron Gamble and Keegan Zehr set the pace in the first of the three mile run. Cameron Gamble finished the run in first place with a time of 18:28. Keegan Zehr came in second and Ceasar Garcia was fourth.

The top Lady Warrior runner, Alexis Namey, right finished third overall with a time of 22:28.

THS cross country continued their SEYL season last Wednesday with a duel meet at Heritage Park in Bakersfield.

Tehachapi managed an overall split as the women lost both the jayvee and varsity matches, while on the men's side, THS grabbed both divisions for the win.

The jayvee ladies took it on the chin in a 19-38 defeat as East High had the top four places. Eva Rowe (17:38) was the first lady brave, finishing fifth overall. Savannah Todd (17:41), Sarah Stickney (17:42) and Vanessa Navarro (17:43) all followed to help the scoring.

The Braves were nearly perfect in a 15 - 49 victory as Ryan Gamblin (13:48), Daniel Green (13:57), Kevin Rooney (14:09), Klayton Duxbury (14:12), and Oscar Machado (14:53) finished first through fifth.

The Lady Warriors lost a close race, falling 25-30. Alexis Namey (22:28) finished third overall, while Jessica Perreault (22:34) and Elena Markusic (23:40) were fourth and fifth respectively in the close defeat.

The Warrior men earned a 22-36 victory as Cameron Gamble won the overall run with a time of (18:28), out running his East opponent in a 200 yard sprint to the finish line.

Keegan Zehr continued his impressive year with a run of (19:07) and a third place finish, while Cesar Garcia was the fourth Mountain runner for THS.

Hunter Kenyon (20:41) had a fantastic run, starting at the back and methodically working his way to an eighth place finish by overtaking most of the pack in his last mile.

Next up the Warriors continue SEYL play by traveling to Highland this Wednesday.
