The Lady Warriors (2-1) opened their season at the Leadoff Classic hosted by North-Bakersfield High School, finishing with a 4-3 victory over Independence, an 8-3 win over Foothill and a 6-0 loss against Taft.
Kendall Kapitzke and Taylor Cummings both had triples in the win over Independence, with Kapitzke also finishing with three RBIs and two runs scored. Other hits in the game came from Emily Mejia, Kathryn Freidt and Una Abarquez. Hannah Grimes and Mejia scored the other two runs for the Lady Warriors.
Mariah Godde got the win in the circle, finishing with a strikeout in four innings pitched.
In the win over Foothill, Grimes finished 2-2 with two RBIs and a run scored, while Freidt, Godde, Cummings and Michaela Peters also had hits. Brenna Dezubiria also finished with a hit and three runs scored and Freidt had two RBIs. Godde had four strikeouts and Grimes two strikeouts in the pitching circle.
Against Taft, the Lady Warriors held Taft to only one run through four innings before the Wildcats registered five runs in the bottom of the fifth inning to secure the win. Freidt had two hits in the loss.
The Lady Warriors had a game against Burroughs-Ridgecrest this past Tuesday and those results will be highlighted next week. The next game for Tehachapi will be this upcoming Monday against Lancaster at home, starting at 3:15 p.m.
