Mountain Basketball outscored Golden Valley 20-4 in the third quarter to fuel an eventual 48-30 win at home last Tuesday evening.
Madison Frey, Danielle Simpson and Rheanna Cowee each had nine rebounds to lead the winning effort, with Simpson and Cowee finishing with eight points and Frey six points.
Alyssa Garcia led the team in points with 14, while also recording a team-high five steals.
Other scoring included Dani Peacon and Briana Gutierrez with four points each, while Kayla Trevino and Lexi Garrett each had a basket.
Tehachapi (12-3) also had a home game against Yosemite this past Saturday and results of that contest will be available next week.
The Lady Warriors will have their SEYL debut games this Wednesday and Friday, with home contests scheduled against East and Highland. Each game will start at 7 p.m.
The Lady Braves improved their record to 9-1 on the season with a 33-19 victory over Golden Valley.
Angelika Kroeger was the high scorer over the Bulldogs with 12 points, one of 10 Lady Braves to score in the game.
Tehachapi also reached the championship in the Shafter tournament earlier this month, losing a close contest to Frontier, 16-14. In earlier round action Tehachapi defeated Centennial 27-11 and Arvin 33-15.
Leja Jakstaite was the high scorer over Centennial with six points and Shelby Ricker was the high scorer over Arvin with 11 points. Madeleine Cass and Brooke Boyd both had five points in the narrow defeat to Frontier.
The Lady Indians moved to 3-2 on the season last week with a 29-15 victory over Golden Valley at home.
Tehachapi outscored the Lady Bulldogs 20-4 in the first and fourth quarters combined to pull out the win.
Tessa Watts led the team with 14 points and seven steals, while Kirsten Medovitch had eight points and eight rebounds.
Other leaders included Rebecca Kirk with seven rebounds and Candra Hall with five rebounds. Madison Cornell, Carissa Hall, Alex Caballero and Amanda Lara combined for six steals.
