Mountain Basketball closed out the Kiwanis Tourney with a win over a former league rival, taking out host Shafter, 64-53.
Jonny Saavedra had 13 points to lead the win over the Generals and earned all-tournament honors for his efforts in guiding the Warriors to a 3-1 record overall.
Other leaders in the Shafter win included Isaiah Johnson with nine points, followed by Ryan Flick with eight points and Chris Llamas and Caleab Roney with seven points each.
Also contributing were Dakota Medovitch, Nathan Hedberg and Dalton Scaggs, who each had six points in the victory.
Tehachapi (6-9) will be in action again after the holiday break when they travel to Golden Valley (Bakersfield) on Tuesday, Jan. 8
Junior Varsity and Freshmen
The Braves earned their second win of the season earlier this month when they recorded a 42-33 win over Mira Monte.
Ryan Hanzel led the way for the Braves with 18 points, while Nick Madden had 12 points, six rebounds and three assists.
Andy Smith also had four points, while Thomas Blewett recorded a basket.
The Indians suffered a close 30-28 defeat to Mira Monte, but was led in scoring by Jacob Burt, who had 15 points and eight rebounds.
The freshmen squad also had four points scored by Jake Walters and Gilbert Gutierrez, while Devan Verone, Bryan Cotta and Daniel Viselli each had two points.
