Mountain tennis blanks Foothill Lady Warriors currently second in SEYL standings

The Lady Warriors moved to 4-1 in league play this past week with a 9-0 shutout victory over Foothill.

Ashley Rush (6-0, 6-0), Sarah Jensen (6-1, 6-1), Carrie Brewer (6-1, 6-1), Laney Ricker (6-2, 6-1), Taylor Cummings (7-5, 6-4) and Madison Johnson (6-4, 6-3) took wins in singles and Rush-Brewer (6-1, 6-1), Hannah Silitonga-Audrey Moon (6-7, 7-6, 12-10) and Micaela Pryor-Isabel Tinajero (6-0, 6-3) won in doubles.

Tehachapi (5-9; 4-1 SEYL) suffered their first league loss of the season against Garces last Thursday in a 9-0 defeat.

Brewer and Ricker won eight games in second doubles and Moon and Silitonga won seven games in third doubles to highlight a pair of close contests.

Sarah Jensen and Brewer both won five games at second and third singles to start the match.

The junior varsity squad had a pair of losses this week, losing 8-1 to Foothill and 9-0 to Garces.

The varsity team will travel to East on Tuesday and then travel to Highland on Thursday to start off the second half of SEYL matches. Junior varsity will be at home against both teams on Tuesday and Thursday. First serve in each match will start at 3:30 p.m.
