Mountain Softball went 3-1 at the Fifth Annual George Terry Softball Tournament at Wasco High, defeating Delano, Bakersfield Christian and Foothill and losing their final game to Kern Valley.
Tehachapi (8-7-1) defeated Delano 11-0, scoring nine runs in the bottom of the third inning to run away with the victory.
Mariah Godde pitched a one-hitter for the Lady Warriors, striking out four batters and contributing at the plate with a 3-3 performance, two runs scored and an RBI. Kendall Kapitzke also went 3-3 with two homeruns and a double and recorded four RBIs and three runs scored. Other standouts included Taylor Cummings with a double, a runs scored and two RBIs, Danay Lee going 2-3 with a double, and Kathryn Feidt, Hannah Grimes, Miranda Wert, Emily Mejia and Michaela Peters recording singles.
Later in the tournament, the Warriors defeated Bakersfield Christian 19-1 and Foothill 11-1.
Against Foothill, Mountain Softball recorded six hits with Lee recording a double, Wert two singles and two RBIs, and Godde and Brenna Dezubiria RBIs. Godde picked up the win in the pitching circle, striking out two batters and giving up only two hits and no earned runs.
In the tourney finale, Kern Valley defeated Tehachapi, 9-2. Despite the loss, Kapitzke still had a strong game by going 2-4 with a double and an RBI, Dezubiria had two singles and Mejia had an RBI.
The Lady Warriors had a non-league game with Wasco Tourney champion Rosamond this past Monday and those results will be available in next week's Tehachapi News. The team will be in action again next Wednesday, April 2 in the league opener against East at home. The game will start at 4 p.m.
