Water Warriors dispatch South; THS records Rebel wipeout in non-league meet

Mountain Swimming rolled to victory last week at the McMurtrey Aquatic Center in Bakersfield, defeating South 95-55 in the boys competition and 124-46 in the girls competition.

Finishing the afternoon in first place in the individual events for the Warriors was Andrew Bartels (200 freestyle -- 2:17.00), Josh Sparling (200 individual medley -- 2:28.17), Alan Michael Ayers (50 freestyle -- 24.00, 100 butterfly -- 1:02.41), Brayton Teare (100 freestyle -- 58.44, 100 breaststroke -- 1:11.19), Andrew Bartels (500 freestyle -- 6:10.00) and Zachary Gaylord (100 backstroke -- 1:10.21).

Taking victories in the relay events was Gaylord, Ethan Teare, Josh Sparling and Ayers (200 medley relay -- 2:01.56), Teddy Diefenderfer, Brayton Teare, Andy Smith, Andrew Bartels (200 freestyle relay -- 1:45.66) and Bartels, Gaylord, Josh Sparling, Ayers (400 freestyle relay -- 3:58.03).

Taking first place honors for the Lady Warriors in the individual races was Megan Stout (200 freestyle -- 2:36.53, 400 freestyle -- 7:00.50), Vanessa Neang (200 individual medley -- 2:52.99, 100 breaststroke -- 1:26.12) and Kylee Blackburn (100 backstroke -- 1:18.35).

In the relay races, Tehachapi swept the first place finishes in the three events, with Blackburn, Megan Stout, Vanessa Neang and Jasmine Delgadillo (200 medley relay -- 2:29.69), Delgadillo, Amanda Stout, Megan Stout and Neang (200 freestyle relay -- 2:07.32) and Megan Stout, Megan Barnes, Amanda Stout, Blackburn (400 freestyle relay -- 5:01.20) representing Tehachapi.

In the junior varsity race, Ashley Bishop won the 100 freestyle (1:23.00).

Up next for Mountain Swimming is a league dual at Jefferson Pool in Bakersfield against Foothill. The swim meet will by this Friday starting at 4 p.m.
