Senior Baseball earns runner-up at Section
The District 51 champion senior little league baseball squad ended an impressive season in all-star action, earning runner up honors at the sectional tournament hosted by Mission Hills Little League.
Tehachapi lost a close decision to San Marino to open the tournament by a 5-3 score, battling back to the championship game with a 17-10 win over the San Fernando All-Stars. The Seniors ended their season in the championship game, losing an 18-5 game to San Marino.
Playing for the seniors this season were Jacob Burt, Timothy Danielson, Larry Wiggins Jr., Robert Cummings, Leo Cano, Nic Ledesma, Ryan Hanzel, Brett Walker, Steven Neilsen, Ryan Neilsen, Sagun Gainey, Brandon Alshaer, Parker Beswick and Garrett Janney.
Football practice starts next week
Summer Practice for Mountain Football will officially start next Monday, July 29.
Fans are welcome to observe practice on the main Tehachapi High School campus. Please make sure to bring shade, lawn chairs and water.
Varsity will have two-a-day practice in the morning (6 a.m.) and evening (6 p.m.), while the jayvee and freshmen teams will practice in the evening (5:30 p.m. to 7:30 p.m.).
Players will need to have their physical and paperwork on file prior to the first day of practice. If there are any questions, please contact varsity coach Steve Denman at 619-4187, jayvee coach Ryan Grimes at 750-1068 or freshman coach Bruce Schkade at 972-1987.
The first game for Tehachapi will be a scrimmage against South in Bakersfield on August 23. The first official game of the season will be a home game against Exeter on August 30. A full game schedule is available at thswarriors.com.
Girls Tennis practice will begin in August
Girls Tennis practice for the upcoming fall season will start on Monday, August 5 from 8:30 a.m. to 10 a.m. at the Tehachapi High School courts.
Practices are mandatory and each athlete must have a sports physical on file to participate. Returning players, please note the new start time of 8:30 a.m. for this season. All girls interested in tennis, particularly incoming freshmen, are encouraged to try out.
