The Jayvee Girls Soccer team recently participated in a tournament in Bakersfield hosted by Liberty, defeating West 3-0 during pool play.
Tehachapi (1-5-1) opened up the scoring against West when Monica Rivera scored a goal in the first half and Alexis Namey had two second half goals, both on breakaways. The Braves were also led on offense by Raquel Ethridge, who had two shots on goal, and Yohani Ledezma, Isabel Tinahero and Rajeen Pitts with scoring opportunities.
The Braves had three other tournament contests, losing to Garces 4-0, Golden Valley 3-0 and Independence 1-0.
Deanna Otis had 12 saves against Garces, 15 saves against Golden Valley and nine saves against Independence. Leading the offensive effort against Independence was Namey with three shots on goal and Pitts with one shot on goal.
