Highland falls to Lady Warriors

Alyssa Garcia helped guide the Lady Warriors to a 48-35 victory over Highland last Wednesday with eight points and four rebounds.

Mountain Basketball outscored Highland 12-2 in the second quarter to pull away for a 48-35 victory last Wednesday in Bakersfield.

Tehachapi (19-4; 6-1 SEYL) had a double-double 19 points and 14 rebounds from Danielle Simpson in the victory, while Rheanna Cowee dominated the boards with a team leading 18 rebounds.

Other leaders included Kelsey Vance with eight points and 11 rebounds and Alyssa Garcia with eight points and four rebounds. Simpson also had a game high four blocked shots and Cedar Parrott had three rebounds.

The Lady Warriors were scheduled to have a home game against North last Friday, but due to snow the game was postponed to this Tuesday. Tehachapi will also have an away game against Foothill this Wednesday and a home game against Garces this Thursday. All games will start at 6:30 p.m.
 
Junior Varsity

The Lady Braves had another impressive output last Wednesday with a dominating 51-17 victory over Highland.

Tehachapi (17-1; 7-0 SEYL) was led in the win by Elayna Cramer with 12 points, two assists and two rebounds and Angie Kroeger with 11 points and three rebounds.

Also helping the team in the victory was Madeleine Cass with three points and four rebounds and Leja Jakstaite with six points.

Brandi Davidson also had four points, three steals and three rebounds in the win, having also scored four points in the previous week’s 39-6 win over East.

Kiera Peck, Shelby Ricker and Brooke Langston combined for seven steals in the Scots win, while Andrea Flores, Cozette Kenyon and Daisy Moran each had a basket and Liza Sanchez had two rebounds.
 
Freshmen

The Lady Indians played in a hard fought contest over Highland last week, falling by a close 28-23 final score.

Tehachapi (8-4; 5-2 SEYL) was led by Kirsten Medovitch with 12 points, six rebounds, two blocks and two steals and Tessa Watts with seven points and three steals.

Other standouts included Montana Frey and Alex Caballero with a basket apiece, Taylor Cummings with two steals and Amanda Lara with two rebounds, a steal and assist.

Carissa Hall also had two rebounds and an assist and Rebecca Kirk had a steal.
