The Junior Varsity Boys Soccer team recently took fourth place in the Liberty - Justice Division Tournament earlier this month.
Playing against some of the top teams in Kern County, the Braves registered a 2-2 record and 17 total points, defeating Stockdale and Centennial and losing to Shafter and Arvin.
Tehachapi (2-4-1) opened up with a 3-1 loss to Shafter, getting a goal in the second half on a Josh Mitchell header that was fed off an Austin Montgomery corner kick. Thomas Johnson was credited with three saves, including a shutout in the second half.
The Braves continued their strong second half momentum into the next two contests, defeating Stockdale 1-0 and Centennial 2-1.
Josh Mitchell had a first half goal against Stockdale from an assist from Leo Cano and Montgomery. Johnson had five keeper saves in the shutout, including a penalty kick save.
Johnson had six saves in the Centennial win, with goals coming from Ethan Zehr and Montgomery. Cano was credited with two assists and Kyle Winchell had an assist on the second goal.
In the tourney finale against Arvin, the Braves lost 7-0, with Johnson earning four saves in the loss.
Participating in the Tournament with Tehachapi was Ridgeview, Shafter, Arvin, Stockdale and Centennial.
