Wrestling victorious in SEYL opener; THS records 47-27 win over East Bakersfield

Mountain Wrestling opened up the league season in impressive fashion last Wednesday, taking a 47-27 dual meet victory over East.

The Warriors racked up six pins overall in the match to take the victory over the Blades, nearly sweeping the middle class weights.

Fletcher Allen (132 pounds) recorded a pin at 2:35 after building a 6-0 lead with a pair of two-point takedowns and a two-point near fall. Kevin Arevalo (138 pounds) also recorded a pin at 1:03, making quick work of his opponent after a two-point takedown.

Lance Stone (145 pounds) was up 2-0 with a takedown in the first period, then registered a pin at 2:57. Dean Hoisington (170 pounds) also had a pin early in his bout, taking his opponent down at 1:37.

In the heavyweight class, Doug Buckley (182 pounds) was up 4-2 on his match before recording a pin at 2:27, and Christian Terle (195 pounds) capped off a 7-0 lead with a pin at 2:50.

Other victories for Tehachapi included Thomas Duran (160 pounds), who recorded a technical fall with a 20-3 victory over his opponent. Other wrestlers competing in the dual for Tehachapi included Bo Perez (106 pounds), Arturo Meza (113 pounds), Garrett Janney (120 pounds) and Andrew Lindsey (152 pounds).

In the jayvee ranks, Jacob Stout (152 pounds) won by decision for the Braves. Colby Batson (145 pounds), Sam Evans (160 pounds) and Markus Jensen (170 pounds) also competed for the Warriors.

Up next for Mountain Wrestling is another SEYL dual at home this Wednesday against Highland. The meet will begin at 6 p.m. Tehachapi will also be participating in the California Invitational in Morro Bay this weekend.
