First SEYL football contest this Saturday

“Friday Night Lights” will be on a one week hiatus to open up the Southeast Yosemite League season, with Tehachapi and East scheduled to play in a Saturday afternoon game in celebration of East High’s 75th anniversary. East will host a great event prior to the 3 p.m. kickoff, rolling out the red carpet with music, tours, decade booths, guest speakers and a vintage car show.

The Saturday away game will feature only the varsity contest, with the Braves and Indians set to play on Thursday night at home. The junior varsity will kickoff at 7:30 p.m. and the freshmen 5 p.m. this Thursday at Coy Burnett Field.

According to Tehachapi High Athletic Director Patrick Snyder, in exchange for Tehachapi agreeing to play a varsity away game this year, all three levels of Mountain Football (varsity / junior varsity/ frosh) will have home games against East in 2014 and 2015.

In other SEYL games, Highland will play at Garces and North will be at Foothill this Friday night.
