Former standout Tehachapi High School athletes Bert Hall and Cory Lange recently went head-to-head in collegiate basketball this past weekend, with Azusa Pacific coming away with an 85-69 victory over BYU-Hawai’i this past Thursday night in Azusa.
Hall (class of 2009) is a senior with Azusa Pacific while Lange (class of 2012) is a freshman with BYU-Hawai’i. So far this year for the Cougars, Hall has averaged 5.7 points and 4.9 rebounds per game, including 13 points and five rebounds against BYU-Hawai’i last Thursday night. This season for the Seasiders, Lange is averaging six points and 2.3 rebounds per game, including a game high 23 points (13-13 at the free throw line and two three-pointers) in the loss against Azusa Pacific.
During their high school tenure, Hall was a two-time All-South Sequoia League selection, helping Tehachapi to their first CIF championship in 56 years during the 2007 season. Lange was the Kern County player of the year after the 2012 season, including a three-time All-South Sequoia League selection. Lange also finished his four years at THS with the most career points (1,100) in school history.
Hall is majoring in sociology with a minor in marketing while Lange is majoring in business.
