Tehachapi got their season started off on a good note last week with a high scoring 4-3 scrimmage victory over Bakersfield Christian.
One of Central California's leading goal scorers last season, Jose Barajas, helped fuel the win with a hat trick three goal effort, while David Veszpeller added another goal off a Barajas assist.
Chris Boyd also had an assist off a Barajas goal in the second half and Zach Satton had five saves at keeper.
"We have a veteran team this season and they understand each other and what they have to do," said head coach Roger Rijfkogel. "We have an explosive team but we still have some work to do before we get where we want to be."
This year's Warrior squad consists of team members Zach Satton, Chris Boyd, Julian Chavez, Kevin Saldana, Tyler Todd, Victor Rodriguez, Lucas Rowe, Cameron Gamble, David Veszpeller, Alex Benitez, Hunter Kenyon, Freddy Benitez, Kevin Rooney, Jeremy Duff, Noah Finch, Jose Barajas, Kyle Mathes-Orr and Mark Minjares.
The Braves soccer team, who will play in their first match this week, consist of players Oscar Machado, Jayhuem Park, Joshua Mitchell, Justin Handy, Tyler Huebner, Tyler Bakker, Jose Tirado, Ryan Yu, Joe Zollar, Spencer Rosas, Leonardo Cano, Tyler Kroeger, Matthew Cardenas, Connor O'Neal, Devin Ragsdale, Austin Montgomery, Kyle Winchell and Cameron Snyder.
"We have high expectations this year. We want to win a league title and we feel like we have the players to do it," added Rijfkogel. "If our guys are committed every match and every practice we have the opportunity to have a memorable year."
