The Lady Warriors took a timeout on their preparation for the upcoming season to help host a week-long volleyball camp with the Tehachapi Valley Recreation and Park District.
Participating were 19 future Lady Warrior volleyball players ranging from third-to-eighth grade. Giving instruction was a handful of players from the THS squad along with Head Coach Sheri Dees.
"This camp gives these girls an opportunity to get one-on-one instruction and learn directly from our Lady Warriors. There is definitely some talent and up and coming athletes," said Dees. "I think the young girls look up to the (THS athletes) as role models. Our girls benefit from this experience, too. By teaching, they learn the fundamentals even more."
Overall, the camp has been going on for over 10 years in partnership with the TVRPD, continuing the strong tradition of grooming future Lady Warrior volleyball players.
"Our girls were this age not all that long ago, and they remember going through camps just like this," added Dees. "It's good to give back and build our community through volleyball."
