The Tehachapi Symphony Orchestra performed its Young Artist Concert Sunday afternoon. The concert featured violin soloist Ella Gove, winner of this year's coveted Tehachapi Symphony Orchestra 2022/2023 Young Artist Competition.

A junior at Stockdale High School in Bakersfield, she has studied violin for nine years with Bakersfield Symphony Concertmaster Julia Haney. Gove has also performed in the Stockdale High School Orchestra and the All Kern County High School Honors Orchestra. She played a solo Command Performance at the California Music Educators Association and won the solo competition at the California Division of the American String Teachers Association.

At Sunday's afternoon concert in Tehachapi, Gove showcased her talent by performing a flawless and beautiful rendition of Dvorak’s Romance in F minor.

Under the direction of Tehachapi Symphony Orchestra Music Director and Conductor David Newby, the afternoon concert opened with the orchestra performing “Finale,” from Overture, Scherzo and Finale, Op.52. Gove was next with her stunning performance of Romance in F Minor, Op.11 by composer Antonin Dvorak. Her performance garnered her a standing ovation. After a brief intermission. the orchestra concluded its concert with four movements of Franz Schubert’s Symphony No.9 in C Major, D. 944 “The Great.”

All concerts offer free attendance. “Our costs to put on these concerts continue increasing and we rely on you, our patrons, for donations and endowments to continue our five concerts a year schedule said conductor David Newby.”
