Zandra Espinoza Castillo, 1969-2022

Zandra Espinoza Castillo, 53, passed away peacefully at her home in Tehachapi, Calif. on Aug. 20, 2022.

The daughter of Efren de Jesus Espinoza-Henrandez and Consuelo Alicia Villa-Cortez, Zandra was born on Jan. 17, 1969, in Santo Domingo Tonala, Oaxaca, México. She immigrated to the United States in 1991 where she lived with her brothers in Napa, Calif.

She attended Napa Valley College where she studied English and cosmetology. On a trip to Salinas, she met her husband-to-be, Luis Castillo, whom she married on Aug. 21, 1999.

Prior to settling in Tehachapi, Zandra gave birth to three wonderful children in Salinas, Calif. Zandra worked more than 20 years on and off as a care provider, providing compassionate care to individuals with impairment, and the elderly.

As an artist, Zandra enjoyed sketching and painting, with much of her work reflecting the beauty of reality and religion. She enjoyed attending the concerts and events of her children, as they performed in local orchestras and school bands. In her efforts to serve the community, she volunteered at the Salinas Valley food bank, and our local Saint Vincent de Paul Society. Her care for others also extended to her love for animals. As a devout Catholic, she had a great devotion to the Virgin Mary and the Sacred Heart of Jesus Christ.

She is survived by her husband, Luis Castillo; children, Angie, David and Amber; mother, Consuelo Alicia; and her siblings, Evaluz, Gonzalo, Cesar, Jose Juan, and Julio. She is preceded in death by her father, Efren; and brother, Francisco.

In loving memory of Zandra Espinoza Castillo. The family invites the community to make charitable contributions, or donate non-perishable food, to St. Vincent de Paul Society of Tehachapi located at Saint Malachy's parish office.
