The Yosemite League Girls Golf Championships were held Monday, May 24, at North Kern Golf Course. Tehachapi High School's Kennadee Stilson made the cut and qualified to participate in the South Yosemite League golf championships. Fifty of the top female high school golfers from three leagues participated.
Stilson rose to the occasion and shot her best 18 holes of her high school career. Stilson shot a 92 and qualified to move on to the CIF section championships to be held June 1 in Lemoore. Stilson is a junior and has shown much improvement the last year and has worked hard to improve her game. Stilson finished in second place in the South Yosemite portion of the tournament.
Coach Dennis Costa believes this last tournament and the upcoming CIF tournament will be a valuable experience for Stilson. CIF qualifying tournaments are highly competitive and she was able to shake off the pressure and perform quit well. This pressure-packed competition will make her a better player.
"I feel great about my performance on Monday," Stilson said. "I went into it with the right mindset and came out of it winning and achieving my goal. I am glad I have the opportunity to show my hard work and participate in CIF."
Good luck to Kennadee, Go Warriors!
